Harpist adds ambiance to Christmas open house

Celebrity Gems arranges Menorah balloon artist in Castro Valley

Castro Valley Boulevard in Castro Valley was all aglow for the annual Menorah Lighting ceremony for the first night of Chanukah. Chanukah, which is a Jewish celebration, commemorates the victory of the Maccabees over the Greeks in the 2nd Century BCE. A fun and festive celebration, a balloon artist sculpted Menorah and Dreidel balloons while the local Chabad rabbi lit the first candle on his huge metal Menorah.

Harpo Marx sighting at re-opening of Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek

He didn't speak but he made his presence known, for the reopening of Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek. Harpo, of the famed Marx Brothers from the 1930's, used a horn, a whistle, and other props at the Re-Opening of Broadway Plaza and Macy's. Why Harpo? Harpo performed his irreverent antics at the original Ribbon Cutting of Broadway Plaza in 1951. It was nostalgia galore, when impersonator Harpo greeted shoppers with a replica Broadway Plaza News dated November 8, 1951.

Two singing Elves and the nationally acclaimed Tap Dancing Christmas Trees were the warm up acts for Santa's arrival at Stoneridge Mall, Pleasanton.  A Toy Soldier Marching Band, with pomp and circumstance, led the procession for Santa's royal entrance.  Celebrity Gems arranges the tap dancing Christmas Trees and Balloon making Christmas elves in San Francisco and San Jose.

There was pomp and circumstance with Santa's arrival at Stoneridge Shopping Center, Pleasanton. Four Toy Soldiers, three with Beefeater trumpets and the fourth with a drum, led the procession. They later strolled the Mall, played popular Christmas music, and the kids posed for pictures with Santa and the marching band. Celebrity Gems arranges Pirate Show with Captain Hook and Tinkerbell at San Francisco Bay Area shopping center

The City of Alameda was the former home of the Alameda Naval Air Station. For a Halloween theme at the Alameda Landing Shopping Center, pirates landed their ships and mingled with the kids in their colorful costumes. Tinker bell carried a hidden treasure map and kids hunted for clues for a buried treasure chest of candy.

A magician performed for over 90 children at a Sukkot celebration hosted by Tri-Valley Chabad. Sukkot, a biblical Jewish holiday commemorates the harvest when Israelites lived in temporary dwellings. After the kids made their own Sukkot with graham cracker walls, Nathaniel took center stage with rings, cards, and cut and restore ropes. Quick question, and no cheating: "What's healthier, a Pizza Pie or a Pineapple?"  What are the ingredients in a vegetarian Stone Soup? These questions and more were posed by the vaudevillian comedy team of Coventry and Kaluza at "Healthy Living/Exercise" at Stoneridge Mall, Pleasanton.

Not sure if the recipe for Stone Soup was noted by the parents: a cabbage, eggplant, tomatoes, an onion, and six bananas.

Charlie Chaplin was the perfect compliment to Paul Price's Society Orchestra at the annual Masonic Home (Union City) barbecue.  Chaplin's most famous persona, "The Tramp" was popular in the 1900's.   Here's Chaplin, cane and duster et al, working the crowd, table to table while Paul Price performed swing, tangos and fox trots, early 1900's.

Peter's 60th Birthday was real special for him and his 50 family and friends. In addition to a day of golf at Wente Vineyards (Livermore), his wife Sophie surprised him by arranging Latin guitarist Stefan followed by a 30 minute audience involvement show with award winning magician Timothy.

The kids let their imagination "run wild" during the latest Kids Club hosted by the Stoneridge Shopping Center in Pleasanton CA. A very versatile performer entertained with his fashionable Dinosaur hat and later asked the kids if they spotted a space alien while they had their lunch at the Cheesecake Factory.  Kids love bubbles, and he ended his 40 minute audience involvement show with a flurry of bubbles that wafted throughout the mall.
