A Buy-In for all Ages

Magic Mike's family show gained accolades from the adults and the kids. Typically a magician specializes in either kid shows or magic for the adults. Not Magic Mike-his humor appealed to the adults-"Have you received those many calls from auto dealers insisting that you increase your car's warranty even though you don't drive" to pulling a bunny rabbit out of a hat. The event planner was totally pleased.

Can we Light his Menorah

The Festival of Light Menorah was lit for the third night at a Bay Area Mall. Hooray for the Maccabees. This hearty band of brothers won the fight against the Syrian-Greeks.  A Menorah Balloon Artist sculpted a decorative Menorah balloon. The CDC recommends that you don't light his Menorah. Light the big Menorah instead. Happy Chanukah to one and all.

Tis the Season

Tis the season for the reason for mall shoppers seven days before Christmas. There were many shoppers who stopped, listened, and took photos of The Toy Soldier Marching Band with their beefeater trumpets and four Dickens carolers attired in traditional costumes from the mid 1800's.

 

It wasn't exactly a monsoon. It was a cold and windy storm. Bookies would have given favorable odds that the Cupertino Holiday on Main would have been called off. Jeremy to the rescue with his glow in the dark juggling balls and pins while balancing on his unicycle. He open the festivities; community groups followed.

                Who Invited this Guy?

The winner and all-time champion grouch made a surprise visit to a mall tree lighting. His goal was to sabotage Christmas. Why light a tree especially with the power shortage? The Who's with the help of the Sugar Plum Fairy and an interactive Elf put a smile on the Grinch's face. Later on everyone joined the party by the beautifully lit tree.

Does Kentucky have a Blue Moon

"Blue Moon over Kentucky" a 1940's bluegrass classic made famous by Bill Monroe is the State song of Kentucky. For those of us who are fans of Bluegrass and 1960's Country and Western, Marin's finest bluegrass band performed in Union City. Included in their repertoire were iconic hits by The Foggy Mountain Boys-Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. 

 Halloween-365 days a Year

How about the Perfect Band for any occasion.  Name something better than New Orleans and Cajun music with a gal playing the washboard and belting out the blues and funky rock and roll. The event planner was pleased, "This band was amazing. Our feedback included partygoers who said this band was their all-time favorite. The lady playing the washboard was beyond our expectation."

I am at your Service

"Jeeves the Clown/Butler" was at their service handing Halloween goodies to children and adults at a Marin shopping center. A friendly witch complemented his hilarious antics which included plate spinning on a long stick. Boo!!    

King for a Day

Rodney was "King for a Day" on his 81st birthday. A Marilyn Monroe impersonator sang the Happy Birthday Mr. President song substituting Rodney's name in the lyrics. Surprise, Surprise when the birthday cake was rolled out. Family and friends later posed for group photos with Marilyn giving Rodney a hearty hug.

Would you take her home to Mother?

She's the Kinky Girl you don't take home to mother. Super Freak that 80's punk funk song made famous by Rick James was one of hits by RJ impersonator Gerald. According to the event planner, "He was wonderful, everyone enjoyed him, don't let him go." Music for Everyone

What's the definition of Eclectic?  Eclectic is composed of elements from different styles.  Charlie Barreda's SF Latin Jazz fit that definition to a "tee." With a mix of Latin, Jazz, classic Rock, and top of the chart hits from the 70's, his Band was the perfect choice at a Bay Area shopping center. Celebrity Gems arranges varied musical and ethnic acts in the Bay Area and Sacramento.

 

                       Heaven, I'm in Heaven

Not exactly heaven with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers in Top Hat.  If you enjoyed the music from that decade, you would have been thrilled with "The Donna Spitzer Trio." Donna's music, at an active retirement community,  spanned the decades of the 30's through the 50's, with some music from the movie Toy Story and classic country with Hank Williams, senior.

A straight ahead Jazz and Funk trio "got their hits down Route 66" at a Marin shopping center. 

Caribbean music on land, no cruise

What was missing?  White sand and the beautiful blue ocean.  A Caribbean duo entertained theater goers, diners, and fans of music from Barbados, Jamaica, and Cuba at a San Francisco Bay Area shopping center. Yee-Haw

 The odds of seeing steer wrangling and bull riding would have been equal to seeing a live dinosaur at a rodeo ranch picnic ground in Castro Valley. You would have seen an award winning face painter with the equivalent of drawings seen at the finest San Francisco art gallery. 

 

 They were Oldies but definitely Goodies

Kick back and bring back 60's Do Wop. There was a 60's theme with classic cars, poodle skirts, and duck tail haircuts. A Rock and Roll band played hits from Dick Clark's American Bandstand and partygoers jitterbugged and danced the bunny hop. The music memories really "Got a Hold on Me" from Smokey Robinson and the Miracles and lets remember Little Caesar and the Romans.

 

 

 

Yes Father I shall become a Bat

Superheroes were the featured entertainment at Superhero Sunday at a San Francisco Bay Area mall. Batman and Wonder Woman sculpted super duper balloons followed by a juggling/acrobatic act with the star attraction, a Super Hero trained puppy.

Name two interesting facts about the Democratic Republic of the Congo

The Democratic Republic of the Congo is noted for at least two reasons- It is rich in natural resources including gold and diamonds (2) The music of Jacques Ibula. The Jacques Ibula Trio performed a mix of African melodies and reggae with the message of peace, love, and harmony at an Eastbay shopping center.

When the movie  Paws of Fury was shown at a San Francisco Bay Area shopping center, there was a Kung Fu martial arts presentation. Celebrity Gems arranged two balloon artists dressed in karate attire, one with dog ears and the second with cat ears and make-up. Plan your theme with improvisational actors and add-in the music.

Bring your Luau to the Mainland

Have a front row seat at your luau with an Hawaiian Fire Dancer, a Hula Dancer, and music from Hawaii and Tahiti. Save the airfare, high cost of an Oahu luau, huge crowds, and marginal food. According to the San Francisco event planner, "We received lots of positive feedback from everyone. Thanks for arranging them."

 

Up, Up, and Away

"Money burns a hole in his pocket" is a popular saying. Not with "The Mad Scientist." When the dollar bill that she lit up didn't burn, she explained that chemicals made the dollar bill fire proof. Mad Science was the theme at a Kids Club. A female Astronaut was a greeter prior to a showing of a Buzz Lightyear movie.

                                           Let's be Neighbors, Let's be Friends

Two face painters, a balloon artist, and music were the featured attraction at a San Francisco town square promoting a housing development at the former Vallco Village, Cupertino. Four restaurants showcased their entrees with food samples while neighbors and friends mixed and mingled at tables. 
 

Kids and Families celebrate Spanish style Fiesta

What a lively celebration. San Francisco Bay Area's renown Ballet Folklorico, two Cinco De Mayo balloonists, and tacos and drinks at a San Francisco "Kids Club."

Puppy Love

What's a sure way to plan a three year old birthday? A puppet show of course. According to her dad, "Puppy Locks held everyone's attention. They were very professional."

Northern California Celebrates Cinco De Mayo

There were parties galore for Cinco De Mayo, a celebration of Mexican culture and the victory over the French in the mid 1800's. A Mariachi received rave reviews at a resident appreciation; a guitarist added authentic Latin music at a corporate event.

 

They were more than a song and dance team

Time travel back to the 1930's and New York Vaudeville. This two person team had it all: zany music, silly antics, acrobatics, and she twirled 40-hula hoops. What was the finale? A drum roll please for Finley the trained puppy dog.

When Irish Eyes are Smiling

It was everything Green for Saint Patrick's Day at a San Francisco Bay Area shopping center-a long green gown for the fiddler; a green derby hat, green bowtie, and green pants for the balloon artist. That's no malarkey.

 

Is it a "He" or a "She?"

Mrs. Doubtfire was an award winning movie partially filmed at the famed Bridges Restaurant in Danville, CA. An impersonator who did not sprinkle a hand full of cayenne pepper on their entrees was the surprise guest for a 30-person corporate event. "Cat in the Hat" wearing his trademark peppermint hat and bright red bowtie was the narrator for a "Kids like Reading" event at a San Francisco Bay shopping center. Yes, children, expand your imagination by reading with both eyes open, not shut

Yes, he can "wiggle." A Chinese Acrobat wiggled into a small cylinder and balanced a candle on a long stick.  A dragon and Chinese Lion Dancers were the second act for "The Year of the Tiger" at a San Francisco shopping Center.
