He didn't speak but he made his presence known, for the reopening of Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek. Harpo, of the famed Marx Brothers from the 1930's, used a horn, a whistle, and other props at the Re-Opening of Broadway Plaza and Macy's. Why Harpo? Harpo performed his irreverent antics at the original Ribbon Cutting of Broadway Plaza in 1951. It was nostalgia galore, when impersonator Harpo greeted shoppers with a replica Broadway Plaza News dated November 8, 1951.

There was pomp and circumstance with Santa's arrival at Stoneridge Shopping Center, Pleasanton. Four Toy Soldiers, three with Beefeater trumpets and the fourth with a drum, led the procession. They later strolled the Mall, played popular Christmas music, and the kids posed for pictures with Santa and the marching band. The City of Alameda was the former home of the Alameda Naval Air Station. For a Halloween theme at the Alameda Landing Shopping Center, pirates landed their ships and mingled with the kids in their colorful costumes. Tinker bell carried a hidden treasure map and kids hunted for clues for a buried treasure chest of candy.
