Boots for Walkin, not Stompin
Who would have believed? Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots were made for Walking" was included in a Country and Western theme. Yes, two guitarists included her iconic song along with Roger Miller's "King of the Road," Hank Williams, and Johnny Cash. And, this talented duo featured traditional Appalachian and Irish music.
Supper Club with Sinatra
There was a Supper Club with a Sinatra impersonator and trio at an Eastbay venue. "Ole Blue Eyes" sang Sinatra's greatest hits while partygoeers feasted on steak and lobster. Yes, the Sands Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas, closed in 1966. Some audience members had fond memories of "The Rat Pack Show" in the Copa Room. Congrats to this Eastbay venue for keeping the "Chairman of the Board's" memory alive.
Two Things for Certain
There are two things for certain (1) There are no Penny Gumball Machines (2) Rock and Roll is here to Stay. When a San Francisco shopping center had their 70th Anniversary, a Rock band played hit songs from the 50's and 60's. Do you remember The Bunny Hop; Duck Tail Haircuts for the guys: the '57 Chevy with the red fins; the stroll? Yes, enjoy Danny and the Juniors, Rock and Roll will never die.
The Rabbit out of the Hat Trick
Magic Mike didn't pull that rabbit out of the hat. He did make a rabbit magically appear from a tiny lock box. Would you trust this Magician with your wedding ring? Her gold wedding ring disappeared on stage only to magically reappear in another box held by an audience member.
Aloha Spirit
There was that "Aloha Spirit" at an Hawaiian theme in Los Gatos. An Hawaiian trio with Hula dancers added to the spirit of the islands. Partygoers were greeted with leis and authentic food including roasted pig and hand wrapped taro leaves. A colorful surf board was the backdrop for the musicians.
